Good List! I have all ten of the books in your list. The essay collections by Gallagher are collected quite nicely for Days One and Two plus new essays on Day Three in a volume from Kent State that I have from 1999.
Thanks,
Chris

Ethan,

This is a worthy start to this "blogging event", for lack of a better term. I considered almost all of the books in your top 10, though we only have three books in common. Although in the end I didn't choose any of the Gallagher essay books, I own all three and think they are extremely well done. I think it's good your top 10 looks so different from mine, because one of the purposes of this little project was to get a wide variety of books on Getrtysburg so readers have a large selection to choose from. So far, so good.

PS I'm going to update the permanent page with a link to this post now. Thanks again for participating!

My only complaint---and I really don't think that word is valid---is that I would not have included *four* essay collections in lieu of the specialized studies such as Pfanz's books on the individual fights, etc. But then the essay collections *are* informative, and cover a lot of topics. Damn, this really is an impossible task!
