Oh, it gets better. I was at Gettysburg doing a living history prograsm for the NPS. We got wind of a proposal the G'burg Foundation is considering. They want to move all living history programs to the Spangler Farm, charge a fee to get in, and still ask living history groups to volunteer their time and talents. We said only if they split the gate with us! If they charge, we get paid. Nuf said.

A change in the fee structure doesn't necessarily mean you're greedy. Paying the bills is generally a pretty good policy to follow.

Will just say this...$8 to see a 22 minute movie, and those in charge are surprised that a majority of visitors to the new VC have passed on paying to see it?

As to the food establishment at the new VC, below what they expected. Way overpriced as well. Not a surprise to me either.

Problem I have with the foundation is very simple. We've been asked to foot the bill, and yet what is displayed there is contrary to the original mission statement as to what will be displayed there.

I cringe when I read Dr. Latschar's responses to the criticisms of the new VC at Gettysburg. The whole idea of a new VC was to showcase all the stuff that they could not do so at the old VC. It is not the case right now, and his explanations are full of crap. It insults me when I read his diatribes about the status of the new VC, and he obviously has not toured the place, as most of the stuff on display comes from other CW museums.

Then again why should I be surprised. I was there during the 145th anniversary of the battle, and I never saw him at the new VC talking to visitors.

Regards from the Garden State,

This looks to be an attempt to not give the public time to react.

Press release on the Labor day weekend, the public meeting only 3 weeks later?

The public was promised a free museum. I wonder if the Park Service actually has no power to stop this Foundation from doing whatever it wants due to some fine print never seen by the public.

By not trying to lower the price of the film to a reasonable rate of say 5$ it shows that $$$$$$$$$$$$ is now what the Park Service and Foundation are in this game for.
